google has recently unveiled its prototype of its chrome OS called the chromium OS. it is different from other operating systems in that everything including the applications it runs are web applications meaning you dont have to store them on hard disk. the entire operating system is browser-based. more on this at:

Orkut.com is a social networking community website operated by Google. Orkut community user base are mainly from from Brazil, India, USA and Pakistan. Orkut is being used widely due to it’s simplicity in creating profile, albums and using application with easy navigation. Also Orkut album includes photos/images which can saved on the desktop but now the feature is no longer available.

now we are going to see how to download photos from albums you can see in orkut.com

requirements: mozilla firefox 3 browser or later

1. Here is a simple trick which will let you download photos from orkut albums. If you want to save any photos from the friend’s album or say any unknown orkut profile album then these steps will be useful.

2. First you must visit the album page of orkut,then click on the album and enter the album area where you can see various albums placed in a thumbnail view.

3. Open the albums and click on any photos which you want to download on your hard disk.Remember, Orkut doesn’t have enabled right click feature to save those photos from the album,

method 1:

4. right-click anywhere on the page except on the photo and select ‘view page info’. ‘page info’ dialog box appears.

5. click on the media tab.

6. there will be listed all the images that are in that particular page. you can select the one you need and see if it is the one, in the preview box below. usually photos in orkut albums are the one with long pathnames.

7.click on ‘save as’ button. ‘save as’ dialog box appears. choose where to save the images and click on save button.

p.s. you can also save the display pictures of users in orkut by this method, except that the filename and pathname will be lesser number of characters long. e.g. ln.jpg, ep.jpg, etc.

method 2:

4. left click on the image using your mouse and keeping the mouse button pressed drag the photo to the a)address bar or b)new tab button in the tab bar or c)an existing tab in the tab bar.

5. The url address of the tab old tab or new tab accordingly will be changed to http://images.orkut.com/orkut/photos/[something] . You can see the image source which is from the orkut server, now right click on the image –> Save image as and choose a location on your computer to save and click on ‘save’ button.

p.s: this method cannot be used to save the display pictures of users in orkut.

hi…this is my blog on technology.initially i intended to name this as technocracy, but someone was faster than me in choosing the names technocracy, teknocracy. so i name it teknocrazy. this is meant to be a blog concentrating on technology alone and nothing else. as u will say the blog will be intelligible even to the lay-man though it focuses on technology.
